The Worst Week of the Year!
It's almost over. I can make it. I always do....every year...but it doesn't get easier. Even when things aren't going so well leading up to this annual occurrence , it's not a welcomed break. In the rare instance, especially for me, when things ARE going well, it disrupts the momentum.
What annual event could be that difficult to live through? Thanksgiving when you have to eat Aunt Ida's famous jello mold with the gravity defying cranberries suspended within? Christmas day with relatives you have nothing in common with? Another birthday?! No, it's even worse than that.
It causes a void that can't be filled. I know because I've tried very hard over the years. I tried very hard this time. I coughed up big bucks to see the play Lombardi on Broadway. I visited a store on Madison Avenue, so exclusive, that it sells clothing in only one color, green. I ordered a seaweed salad with my sushi dinner just so I could savor something green. Nothing worked.
I just kept thinking how I needed to see REAL green...gangs of it! How I needed to spell a four letter word over and over, louder and louder! How I needed to use my knuckles to do what they were always meant to do - BUMP!
But finally, today, at 1 PM Eastern Standard Time, when the toe of a shoe makes contact with a pigskin propped up on a tee, MY Jets take off again! The Bye Week is over!
